Position Summary:
The Import Logistics Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing all import logistics activities to ensure the timely, cost-effective, and compliant movement of goods from international suppliers to the company’s facilities. The role ensures adherence to customs regulations, optimizes transportation and inventory processes, and collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to maintain an efficient supply chain.
Responsibilities
- Manages day-to-day operations, employee development, staffing, and special projects of the import logistics department.
- Works in close cooperation with purchasing, vendors and customs brokers to coordinate the smooth receipt of international inbound shipments.
- Works closely with international vendors to ensure that all required shipping documents are in full compliance with local regulations and to receive said
documents in a timely manner. - Works with the Custom Brokers to ensure proper application of import tax and duties by customs and prompt delivery of shipments.
- Register all landed costs in the system for all inbound shipments.
- Ensure proper filing (electronic & hard copies) of all documentation
- Negotiates price and service with freight companies.
- Works with the team to determine and implement best practices, proper recordkeeping, and a culture of continuous improvement.
- Manages government trade relations, operations, regulations, and permitting for inbound freight clearances and compliance.
- Produce recommendations and reports on service provider changes, changes in government regulations, overall costs and cost reductions, and process
improvements. - Develop and execute short- and long-term strategic goals.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree
- 5+ years relevant business experience
- Excellent business communication and presentation skills
- Strong capabilities in Microsoft Excel
- Professional working proficiency in French
- Professional working proficiency in English
