Job Summary

The Senior Director of Operations has primary responsibility to build and develop operations organizations, processes, and procedures to support the Organization’s strategic direction.  Plans and directs all aspects for the facility ensuring conformance with quality standards and support of new business opportunities.  Ensures all operation’s projects, initiatives and processes are in conformance with established policies and objectives meeting financial, quality, customer and employee objectives.  Demonstrates strong leadership and communication skills.   

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Directs and leads the site leadership team, and indirectly all site employees, to meet and exceed customer requirements in terms of safety, quality, cost, delivery and service while making products at the lowest cost possible.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor day-to-day operational systems and processes to provide visibility into the goals, progress, and obstacles of key initiatives.
  • Plan, monitor, and analyze key metrics for day-to-day operations to ensure efficient and timely completion of tasks.
  • Ensure equipment and process can meet future demand. Manage modifications to meet new regulatory or production requirements.
  • Work closely with QA to establish and maintain documentation and compliance programs
  • Ensures products meet the requirements of approved production plans at minimum costs within quality limits & consistent with MSPP, cGMP, ISO & OSHA requirements.
  • Responsible for identifying opportunities to improve quality, safety performance, scrap minimization or otherwise reduce manufacturing costs by using effective management, cost control techniques and Lean Manufacturing.
  • Provides monthly reports and ongoing measurement of site results and various work initiatives including but not limited to identifying progress, issues, corrective action status, etc. for any work streams or planned activities
  • Builds, develops and manages operations leadership changes in manufacturing and operations throughout the facility.  Establish operations initiatives for continuous improvement
  • Consistently enforces all site policies, practices, procedures and guidelines.
  • Administers a program for safety, hygiene and fire protection to safeguard the health and welfare of the personnel as well as to preserve the facilities.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor and key driver for the leadership team, ensuring effective execution of initiatives, strategies, project management, and budgets while providing strategic guidance as needed
  • Create and oversee project and operational budgets to ensure alignment with organizational goals.
  • Lead audits and ensure compliance with regulatory bodies.
  • Oversee end-to-end supply chain operations, including procurement, inventory management, and distribution, ensuring compliance with pharmaceutical regulations and maintaining product integrity throughout the process.
  • Implement and monitor logistics strategies to optimize transportation, cold chain management, and warehouse operations, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to quality and safety standards; collaborate with the Sales team as needed to support customer fulfillment and service objectives.
  • Performs other duties as assigned based on business needs.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ten or more years in a senior leadership role in a field related to our industry
  • Ability to directly supervise up to 10 employees who are managers, supervisors, professional staff in the manufacturing/production area and indirectly manage 75+ employees to achieve on-time, on-budget results.
  • Familiarity with risk assessment tools like FMEA and CAPA processes
  • Plan, monitor, and analyze key metrics for day-to-day operations to ensure efficient and timely completion of tasks
  • Proven ability to plan and manage operational processes for maximum efficiency and productivity
  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in business administration, industrial engineering, chemistry, pharmacy or related field
  • Experience in developing budgets and business plans
  • Experience managing inspections and responding to observations.
  • Prior manufacturing experience in a pharmaceutical industrial setting preferred; prior manufacturing experience in food, beverage or another highly regulated industry required.
  • Proven leadership and production management experience.
  • Possess excellent negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
  • Effective problem solving and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with all levels in the organization.
  • Proficient in computer use including Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with all levels of employees.
  • Fluent in English, French and Creole
