About the Role

The Director of Information Technology is responsible for leading all technology functions for a growing airline, including IT infrastructure, applications, cybersecurity, and digital platforms. This position plays a key role in driving innovation through the use of AI, data analytics, and digital tools to enhance operational efficiency and customer experience. The Director will oversee the airline’s website, booking engine, and digital customer interfaces, ensuring reliability, usability, and revenue growth.

Key Responsibilities

Technology Strategy & Leadership

  • Develop and implement the airline’s IT strategy aligned with business goals, scalability, and growth objectives.
  • Introduce AI-driven solutions for operations (e.g., predictive maintenance, crew optimization, chatbots, revenue management).
  • Evaluate and implement cost-effective systems and partnerships suitable for a small-to-medium airline environment.
  • Ensure IT infrastructure supports 24/7 airline operations, including reservations, ticketing, maintenance, and customer support.

Digital Experience & Website Management

  • Oversee the airline’s website, mobile app, and booking engine to ensure seamless performance, high conversion rates, and excellent user experience.
  • Manage partnerships with web development, design, and e-commerce vendors.
  • Use data analytics and AI tools to personalize customer engagement, automate marketing, and improve digital sales performance.
  • Ensure website security, uptime, and compliance with industry standards (PCI-DSS,GDPR).

Operational IT Management

  • Manage all core IT systems, including reservations (PSS), departure control (DCS), maintenance tracking, and back-office platforms.
  • Maintain high standards for system reliability, cybersecurity, and disaster recovery.
  • Negotiate and manage vendor contracts and service-level agreements.
  • Optimize IT budgets, focusing on smart automation and cloud adoption.

Cybersecurity & Compliance

  • Implement and monitor cybersecurity frameworks and incident response plans.
  • Ensure compliance with aviation data protection and cybersecurity regulations.
  • Protect passenger and operational data through secure, scalable architectures.

Team Leadership & Collaboration

  • Lead and mentor a small, agile IT team focused on innovation and operational support.
  • Collaborate closely with Operations, Marketing, Finance, and Customer Service teams to align technology solutions with business needs.
  • Foster a proactive, solution-oriented culture that leverages new technologies responsibly and efficiently.

What We’re Looking For

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (Master’s preferred).
  • 5+ years of IT management experience, ideally in aviation, travel, or e-commerce industries.
  • Proven success in managing airline websites, booking systems, and digital customer platforms.
  • Experience deploying AI solutions in business operations or digital products (e.g., chatbots, predictive analytics, personalization engines).
  • Solid understanding of airline technology systems (PSS, DCS, MRO, CRM, ERP).
  • Strong project management, cybersecurity, and vendor management skills.

Preferred Certifications:

  • ITIL, PMP, or CISSP.
  • AI/ML or cloud certifications (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud).
  • Aviation-related certifications (IATA, FAA, or ICAO) are a plus.
